TOUR OF MONAGHAN
Emyvale C.C held their annual tour of Monaghan on Sunday last. There was
over sixty cyclist sign on the morning of the tour. That got off at 10am
sharp. The cyclist then headed for Monaghan, Clones, Newbliss and
Cootehill, as the Cyclist then headed for Ballybay the boys from Emyvale
and Carrickmacross turned the tempo up more and soon this Tour turned
into a fully fledge race all the way from Ballybay to Emyvale were the
cyclist were touching speeds of 40MPH in some sections of the road. The
cyclist all got back to Emyvale safe and sound after there morning spin
out and it was great to see Francie Donnelly back in the saddle after a
long lay off and looking good Francie should be ready for the "Col Du
Tourmalet"next summer no problem. Emyvale C.C. would like to say a big
thank you to all the riders who took part in the tour of Monaghan. The
club wishes speedy recoveries to Paul Cassidy, Pauric Kane and two ladies
cyclist from Belfast who wont for get there Sunday in Emyvale for a while
after a unfortunate incident outside of Smithborough. Thank also to the
Tea Ladies. Mary Hughes, Kathleen Kane, Linda Sheridan, and Deborah Mc
Geough who had the Kettle on and the Showers warm when all the riders got
back to Emyvale? These ladies are a very big part of the wheel that keeps
the club ticking over and every year these women have never let the club
down so well done Ladies. Last but not least to Seamus Mc Elroy who drove
the Broom Wagon (picking up the strays) on the day and also to Mickey Mc
Kenna who drove the lead car on the day. Everybody contributed to a great
day of cycling.
Novice Superstars at Craigavon
The club would like to say well done to Conor and Ruairi Griffiths, Conor
Connelly, Abagail McGeough and Emma Jane McKenna who took part in the end
of season extravaganza in Craigavon last Saturday in the McQuaid Colours
all five riders was very unlucky to be just outside the medals. And a
special word of thanks to Kathleen Kane Steven Cassidy and Michael
McKenna who gave up there time on Saturday to look after these young
riders so well done to everyone.
Touring Club News
The touring club will be sending cyclists on two major tours over this
weekend. There will be a group going to Carrickmacross and another group
to Dungannon on Sunday. Would all cyclists please contact George in his
shop and let him know who is going were for the weekend or Barry Cassidy.
Our intention is to keep club members up to date with the goings on within
the
club, as well as keeping past members and indeed anyone else who
interested.
We would also appreciate it if you would send us feedback and of course
anything youd like to see on the site.
